These beautifully cabled socks are perfect to show off with a skirt or a pair of walking shoes. They come in two sizes, a standard 6 inch (15 cm) leg length, and a knee-high (10 inches / 25.5 cm) with calf shaping!

And yes, they are knee-highs, scaled to an XL 16.25 inch (40.5 cm) calf circumference! They're knit using a variety of fingering-weight yarns designed for socks -- I would suggest a wool or wool blend with either silk or nylon for added reinforcement. I would not suggest a cotton or bamboo blend, as the knee high socks depend on the elasticity of the wool to help them stay in place and not slouch down to your ankles!

Grey Sample was knit in Gritty Knits Hombre (60% superwash Merino, 20% Yak, 20% Silk) 400 yards/366 meters per 3.5 ounce/100 gram skein. Sample shown in Size XL in the colourway "Catahoula".

Red Sample was knit in Treehouse Knits Sequoia Sock (80% Merino, 20% nylon) 400 yards/366 meters per 3.5 ounce/100 gram skein. Sample shown in Size S in the colourway "Rusted Berries".

Green Sample was knit in Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock (80% Merino, 20% Nylon) 430 yards/393 meters per 3.5 ounce/100 gram skein. Sample shown in Size S in the colourway "Carol Green".

Pattern Notes:

These socks are knit from the cuff down on circular or double pointed needles. The heel flap is knit flat and stitches are picked up and knit from the slipped stitch edge of flap, then decreased to form the gusset. The toe is decreased, and the final toe seam is grafted together.

This pattern has charted and written instructions available. It also has an accessible large print option that is compatible with screen-reading software.

The large print option is done in a sans-serif font with a minimum 24 pt font size, and all pictures included have alt-text enabled for screen-readers.
