These socks were originally inspired by an Art Nouveau themed magazine call back in Summer 2021. After playing with various stitch swatches, what I got instead was a stitch pattern that reminded me more of the Impossible Geometry that is so prevalent in the works of M.C. Escher.
The Blocks Stitch Pattern is made with a combination of slipped stitches and one-over-four cables, this means that the leg and the top of the sock have far less stretch then the stocking stitch sole of the sock.
For questions and support, please e-mail me at sarahdawnsdesigns@gmail.com.
Pattern Notes:
These socks are knit from the cuff down, with a heel flap and gusset style heel. The Blocks Stitch pattern is continued on the instep, while the sole is knit in stocking stitch. The toe is decreased and then seamed with grafting (Kitchener Stitch).
Sample is shown in *Malabrigo Ultimate Sock in “Teal Feather”, though any wool/nylon sock yarn will work up well as a substitute.
This pattern has written and charted instruction. This pattern also has an accessible large print option that is compatible with screen-reading software. This option includes only the written instruction.
